Chanel Cosmetics Line Created Famous Fragrances

Who has not heard the name of Coco Chanel? The answer would be very few. She is so well known for so many trends in fashion and for her chanel cosmetics that her name and her products are known worldwide. The definition of cosmetics is a product that is used to beautify the look of a person, to cover the skin to protect it or to diminish a person’s body odor.

Probably the most famous product Chanel developed is her most well known fragrance; Chanel No. 5. The introduction of the chanel cosmetics line’s first scent in 1921 was an unheard of move. No designer had yet made their own perfume and put their name on it. This was unheard of previous to her doing this. It subsequently became one of the most famous scents in the history of perfumes.

Chanel cosmetics were not all that Coco Chanel did that was revolutionary for her time. She changed the way women dressed, tailoring clothes differently, and allowing women to wear pants at a time it was still frowned upon. But no matter what she did or her company has done since it is the Chanel fragrances that are most remembered. Despite the success of this perfume for women it was not until 1981 that the first eau de toilette for men appeared under the Chanel brand name. Later, in 1998, chanel cosmetics launched Allure, a men’s aftershave. Only two years earlier Allure for Women, a fragrance recommended worn only in the daytime had come out. The men’s scent was a combination of citrus, spices, and woods while the women’s was fruity.

Less than a year before she died in early 1971 Coco Chanel developed a new fragrance for the chanel cosmetics line. It was called Channel #19, after her date of birth, and was a very different fragrance from those she had created before. Its secret was a combination of musk, bergamot which is a citrus, vetiver which is a grass that has an incredible fragrance and neroli which is a lot like bergamot. It was created to be worn in the evening. The company continued after her death and went on to create many more products to make women, and men, feel good about how they looked.
