Origins Cosmetics Plagued by Concerns

Origins Cosmetics line is distributed by the Estee Lauder Company. It is a relatively new natural line of products that are made for the skin. They are using essential oils from all parts of plants to provide a more natural alternative to skin care. It is believed that by using these more natural products the formulas will help to improve the feel of a woman’s skin while intensifying her beauty and that quested for feeling of wellbeing.

Currently there is a controversy whether these products are really as good as they claim. Supporters of natural products in cosmetics think that Origins Cosmetics are a good idea. They are aware that the product uses beeswax in their lip products but that all other of their cosmetic line is free of any animal byproducts. Other supporters stand by them because they do not use animals in their product testing.

The controversy is coming from researchers who are saying that the Origins Cosmetics line may potentially contain some ingredients that could be dangerous to a woman’s health. This is especially disturbing to those who read their advertising and see the promotion line that these products are to promote wellness through multisensory products.

The doctor who has brought this issue to the public notice is saying that some of the cosmetics have Butylene glycol which can irate the skin if not diluted properly. As well some have parabens; this can cause hormonal disruptions of a women’s body and has been proven to be a danger to male embryos and male babies. There is proof that the Origins Cosmetics also use limonene which not only can irate the skin but is also a cancer concern. The emulsifiers that are used in these cosmetics also contain ingredients that are known as carcinogens. This includes ethylene oxide. It was rated as such as far back as 1990. The health care provider issuing these concerns is not some general practitioner looking to cause trouble. He is the Chairman of the Cancer Prevention Coalition. The responses from the company were not encouraging. They said only that their research did not show them that information. Women will now have to think twice about using the Origins Cosmetics products until more answers are given on their safety.
