Who would have thought that when Eugene Rimmel joined his father’s perfumery in 1834 the line of rimmel cosmetics that he helped to develop would have such a long lasting popularity. This young Frenchman, living in London, joined his father’s firm and through the combined efforts of father and son that very same year they produced the first mascara to be marketed to the public that was non-toxic. They called themselves the House of Rimmel and their new product was an instant hit in Europe. Years after their success Eugene Rimmel wrote a history of perfume and fro emphasis he wrote it on scented paper, it was the first informative piece ever written on the perfume industry. In North America and Europe they decided that the best way to market the assorted make-ups available in the rimmel product line was to aim them more at teenage girls. In this way they sell them as trendier but less expensive merchandise. The rimmel line is easy to find at stores. It can be purchased anywhere from pharmacies to supermarkets and department stores.
